Course Set - HLTAID014 & HLTAID015
Challenging situations, such as multiple casualty incidents, having to move or extricate casualties, or treating potentially fatal illnesses and injuries are high risk. It is imperative that training occurs to be able to know what to do when confronted with a real-life incident. This course provides practical simulated real-life situations to learn and gain the confidence to coordinate and manage a response and provide advanced first aid in line with legal, community and workplace considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies until emergency services arrive.
This course includes instruction on first aid and CPR, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as hypothermia or hyperthermia, head, neck and spinal injuries, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, managing a casualty in shock and providing oxygen in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. Simulated real-life situations will be used to develop the skills and knowledge for using and maintaining specialised equipment for the provision of first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen therapy.

+ Course Durations
Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

If you are familiar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “Online with face to face assessment” course
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 18 Hours (2 days)
If you are unfamiliar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “face to face” course.
The theory + First Aid Incident Report is delivered face to face (multiple choice delivered verbally, with the learner marking answer in writing), during the course. Hence if learners would have difficulty completing a pre-course on-line assessment, or who’s learning style is more kinaesthetic or practical focused, this modality better suits these learners, and is the preferred modality when we deliver training on community.

In a scenario, participants will also work in a small team to demonstrate a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression's, while applying an AED during an emergency CPR scenario, on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. In a scenario, participants will also manage an unconscious casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise, manually assess vital signs, and provide an accurate verbal report of the incident
