Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.
Online with face-to-face assessment (with pre-course online study + in-class electronic assessment) face to face contact time of at least 6 Hours
If you are familiar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “Online with face to face assessment” course
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 12 Hours (2 days)
If you are unfamiliar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “face to face” course.
The theory + First Aid Incident Report is delivered face to face (multiple choice delivered verbally, with the learner marking answer in writing), during the course. Hence if learners would have difficulty completing a pre-course on-line assessment, or who’s learning style is more kinaesthetic or practical focused, this modality better suits these learners, and is the preferred modality when we deliver training on community.

Online study (if applicable): Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with a current browser, as well as access to the internet and skills sufficient to follow a video learning program, to complete the on-line pre-course work, as well as assessments in-class.

+ Assessment Activities
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
Perform CPR on an infant
CPR assessment requires candidates to perform at least two (2) minutes of single rescuer uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface. In a scenario, participants will also work in a small team to demonstrate a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compression's, while applying an AED during an emergency CPR scenario, on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. In a scenario, participants will also manage an unconscious casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise, manually assess vital signs, and provide an accurate verbal report of the incident.

1. Which course code do I need for my work?
Most Alice Springs workplaces require HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This is the nationally recognized "standard" and includes your CPR certification.
2. What should I bring and wear?
To ensure you are ready for both the practical and the digital assessment, please prepare the following:
- Smartphone with Internet: You will need this to scan the QR code for attendance and to log into your student portal to complete your final assessments in class. Please have your username and password ready.
- Comfortable, Modest Clothing: You will be bending, kneeling, and performing CPR scenarios. We recommend trousers or long shorts and comfortable shoes to maintain modesty and safety while working on the floor.
- Full Attendance: This is a high-focus environment. Plan to stay for the full duration of the course, as leaving for unscheduled smoke breaks or personal errands may result in an "unsatisfactory" result for the day.
- Minimized Distractions: While phones are used for assessment, we ask that all other personal distractions be managed outside of training hours to respect the adult learning environment.
3. Are there physical requirements for the First Aid Training Course?
Yes. To receive your certificate, Australian RTO standards require you to perform at least 2 minutes of continuous CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.
- Space: We require approximately 3m² of clear floor space per learner for these scenarios.
- Attendance: You must attend the full duration of the course. Taking unscheduled breaks or leaving early may result in an "unsatisfactory" result.
4. What are the logistics for the training day?
Redpath Education provides all training materials, including laptops, projectors, and clinical equipment.
- Catering: Food and refreshments (water, tea, and coffee) are provided during breaks.
- Timing: The training room is accessible 1 hour before and after the course.
- Support: A dedicated staff member will be on-site to assist with cultural safety, transport, and learner attendance.
5. How long is my certificate valid?
- First Aid: Valid for 3 years.
- CPR: Must be renewed every 12months to remain compliant with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
