Frequently Asked Questions: First Aid Training Course

1. Can I just turn up and do CPR course only?

No. If you only require a CPR certificate, you must specifically book our CPR Course. While the First Aid course includes a CPR component, we cannot accept "walk-ins" or partial attendance for CPR only during a full First Aid session. Each course has its own specific enrollment and assessment requirements.

2. Which course do I actually need?

The "standard" workplace First Aid course is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This includes your CPR certification. If you work in childcare or a school, you likely need HLTAID012 first aid in a childcare setting, which covers asthma and anaphylaxis in children. If you just need a yearly refresher, hltaid009 provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the CPR-only code.

3. How long does the certificate last?

  • First Aid: Valid for 3 years (36 months)
  • CPR: Although the First Aid cert lasts 3 years, the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends a CPR refresher every 12 months.

4. Can I do the theory at home?

Yes. Our most popular option is Blended Delivery. You complete the theory online in your own time, followed by a 6-hour practical session. This saves you a full day in the classroom. We also offer a 2-day Face-to-Face option (12 hours total) for those who prefer traditional learning.

5. Are there any physical requirements?

Yes. To be deemed competent by the National RTO standards, all participants must perform 2 minutes of continuous CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. If you have a physical injury that prevents you from kneeling, please contact us before booking to discuss your options.

6. Is this a nationally recognized qualification?

Absolutely. All training is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909). Your certificate will be issued the same day you successfully complete your practical assessment and will be valid across Australia.
