This course covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response and to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electrical industry environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.

It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedure and to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations, in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The program also covers the use of industry-standard PPE and rescue equipment, safe approach distances, site-specific hazard review, isolation processes, and emergency response requirements.

Due to the high-risk nature of the industry, this program is regarded as a mandatory requirement for specific roles where employees are required to develop or maintain their professional skills.

First Aid & LV Rescue Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Information about the Delivery Options is summarised in the Course Duration below.

Redpath Education helps you learn First Aid and LVR Course on your own terms. We offer flexible training across Alice Springs and the Barkly, Central Desert, and MacDonnell Regions. We also visit the NPY Lands and Ngaanyatjarra. Whether for yourself or your workplace, we make it easy to get the skills you need.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

+ Course Durations

  • Online with face-to-face assessment - the online pre-course learning (4.5hrs) and theory assessment (2-3hrs) is expected to take approximately 7 hours to complete (these timeframes are estimates). Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the online component in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and theory questions.

    • If you are familiar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “Online with face to face assessment” course

  • Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 9 Hours (1.5 days)

    • If you are unfamiliar with using computers and online training and assessment. Select this “face to face” course.

    • The theory + Incident Report is delivered face to face (multiple choice delivered verbally, with the learner marking answer in writing), during the course. Hence if learners would have difficulty completing a pre-course on-line assessment, or who’s learning style is more kinaesthetic or practical focused, this modality better suits these learners, and is the preferred modality when we deliver training on community.

More information can be found here.
